We are delighted once again to have been selected to receive funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund. This means that if people vote for our project we will get a contribution towards it, depending on the level of support. But we need your help. The more support we get, the more funding we could receive. So if you're a Co-op Member please log in to your Co-op Membership account and choose us. If you're not a Co-oP member, please join and support us! (Details below)
How the Co-op Community Fund works
Every time Co-op members choose Co-op branded products and services and use their Co-op Membership card (subject to Membership T&Cs) 1% of what you spend will go to your chosen cause and 5% to the card holder.
Members can choose which project they would like to support and can change their choice at any time until the end of this community fund period (November 2018).
If members don't choose a cause during the community fund period then their 1% is shared out equally between all the local causes in their community and the card holder still gets the 5% back.
When you are a member you can keep an eye on how much is being raised in your Co-op Membership account or you can visit your local Co-op Food store and check for updates.
Not a Co-op member, you can join at coop.co.uk/membership
We hope you will support our project but for any reason you choose not to, there are two other great projects you can choose from below:
St.Andrews (Meols) Beavers, Cubs & Scouts GRoup
The Scout group is run by adult volunteers for the young people of Meols and the surrounding area. Provision of better facilities allows the group to continue providing opportunities for young people to enjoy new adventures; gain experience of the outdoors, interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. The building used (The McLeod building) is in need of repairs and maintenance to make it a more welcoming place for the scout meetings.
Hedgehog Rescue Centre
We at Wirral Animal Sanctuary rescue and re-home unwanted or stray domestic pets and animals. Our objectives are to address all of the animals needs both medically and behaviourally, where applicable, and match those animals with a fitting and loving new home. We also have a Hedgehog Rescue and rehabilitation centre where we take in sick and injured hedgehogs. Again, we care for the animals medical needs and then co ordinate a release for a safe return into the wild. We offer a varied amount of volunteer positions to students, vulnerable adults and their support workers and the general public. We do public talks and informational talks at schools and events educating the community on wildlife, the importance of rescue, re-homing and animal welfare. We would use the funds to buy some incubators for our hogglets used in their daily care.
The Friends, Co-oP community fund project is to restore a further section of the Parade Gardens seaside wall, this will make a big difference to making the Gardens a more attractive place to visit.
We have already made great strides in restoring these wonderful Victorian sunken gardens with free sports facilities. Once all of the wall is renovated we can then move on to obtain Green Flag status and look at obtaining grants to repair/replace the tennis and basketball courts. It would be great if we could also have a multi purpose games area suitable for all to use,
Please support our project to help keep Hoylake and Meols SMILING for many years to come
