Every year the volunteers of Hoylake and Meols in Bloom do all they can to ‘Help make the Village Smile’. Our planters are now well established and our understanding of how to ‘grow’ our community both human and flora is strong. Building on our passion and our experience we feel we are ready to enter Hoylake and Meols in the coveted Royal Horticultural Society’s North West in Bloom competition under the small seaside resort category.
We are a committed, driven, enthusiastic volunteer group but to secure a strong outcome we would be grateful for a little of your time and support. If you would like to join the team of volunteers please do get in touch HERE or phone Jan on 07725 540049.
Through entering this competition we really want to build and strengthen our local community. Flowers and plants help make our village a pleasant, hopeful place filled with colour, texture and life. We know how much this matters to a general feeling of wellbeing and closeness to nature and how important this is to local people and visitors alike.
We would love your support.
The lights have made the village glow now please help us make it grow.
The bid will involve Hoylake village and station, Meols village and station, Queens Park and Parade Gardens. If you have recently used the train stations you will see good progress is being made on clearing the beds in preparation for re-planting. Perhaps you would like your street or other park to be involved or just help with our existing projects. Many shops have already agreed to have additional floral displays.
As with the Christmas lights all these things cost money.
If you would like to donate for the flowers you can here or at Maccombs Pet Store, Hoylake.
Welcome to the Friends website, our aim is to help make Hoylake and Meols a more beautiful place to live, visit, work, rest and play by planting and caring for the many floral displays in and around our village thus enhancing the environment for everybody to enjoy.

If you would like to go on the Friends volunteer email list and help the village smile, that would be great. It does not mean you are expected to volunteer for everything we do. We all have busy lives, if you can help, great, if not maybe next time.
Along with support memberships and donations we also hold a fund raising garden party at Dane Cottage. If you have not been before, please come along and support the Friends. There is always a huge bring and buy plant sale, drinks and lovely cakes and a terrific raffle and great music by local artists.
This years Garden Party is on Saturday 16th June 2018 at Dane Cottage, 11 Ethelbert Lane, Meols. CH47 5BF.
Please support the Friends Co-oP Community Fund

The Friends since 2006 have been providing and maintaining the floral displays throughout Hoylake and Meols.
15 Flower tubs
16 Roundabout containers
11 Brick planters
These are all planted twice yearly with summer and winter planting then maintained by the Friends volunteers.
Thank you to the many local businesses that help our village and parks smile.
This can range from donating cakes for the garden party, supplying raffle prizes,
purchasing play items to donations.
If gardening is not for you, that’s fine it does not suit everyone. Perhaps you would like to help for a couple of hours in the Parade Gardens tea kiosk or Queens Park tea room.
We also need all kinds of assistance in running events.
